Best Ways to Save Money Food Shopping


 In a world where prices are going up but our pay seems to hardly move at all most us are looking for extra ways to save money where we can. Saving money while food shopping is actually one of the easiest ways to save money. 

So how do you save money food shopping without sacrificing on taste or health? There are actually many great ways to do this!

Planning

This is pretty simple; all you need to do is write a list. Now the biggest thing people always forget when they write a shopping list in order to budget is to allow yourself treats. Saving is important but if you don’t have one of those items you really love you may be tempted to blow your budget halfway through the week or fortnight.  So you are much better off including a personal treat in your list.

When making your shopping list you will save more money on food if you look through the junk mail shopping flyers and find coupons if you can as well. Everything ads up.

Healthy and Home Cooked
Making healthy meals can actually be cheaper if you go about it in a thoughtful way. Extra such as chips and bad snack foods cost a lot of money and this money really ads up. If you don’t really need it, don’t by it.

Some great ways to save money on food is to buy frozen vegies instead of all fresh, make a lot of risottos and buy long life milk so you don’t have to got the corner store when you run out.

In Season Fruit and Vegetables
When you do buy fresh fruit and vegetable, you can save a lot of money of your food bill if you simply buy produce that is in season. It is always a great deal cheaper and if you go to a farmers market then you save even more.

Frozen and Canned
Frozen and canned products will save you so much money on your food bill if you buy them. These products are just as nutritious as their fresh counterparts and in fact, are in most cases more filled with nutrients! This is because they are preserved at their peak.
 
Freezing meat allows you to use what you need then return it back into the freezer. This keeps food edible for much longer and allows saving money on food by buying in bulk.

Powdered soups are great staple for your pantry as well. They are not only great for drinking as a cheap and healthy snack, but also go well as a risotto base. Just cook a powdered soup, water and rice in a saucepan with some frozen vegies and chopped meat and you’ve got yourself the cheapest but extremely tasty and healthy dinner. Be creative with your meals!


Generic
Generic brands are almost always exactly the same as there expensive counterparts. The only differences being that the generic brands are approximately half the price of the other ones. You will be amazed how much you can save if you start buying for the product only and no the brand.


If you start to employ these techniques and some of your own in you food shopping then you will start seeing some truly amazing savings just from being more careful and planned. Remember you don't have to spend a lot to be healthy, it can actually save you money!
